2021 Look ahead

2020 was a doozy with so many factors that our world faced - the coronavirus shutting down our economy and ravaging the healthcare system, civil unrest with riots and protests, a crazy election and attempt to disrupt a peaceful transfer of power.  Personally with my running I had some nagging aches and pains and tore my meniscus in August which resulted in knee surgery in October.

I had plans to complete my first 100 mile race at Eastern States, but like the majority of races before the fall it was cancelled.  Before Eastern States was cancelled I did get in one great training weekend up on the trails in Pine Creek.

I didn't run in any in person races in 2020, but did participate in virtual races including Womxn Run the Vote put on by my favorite running clothing brand Oiselle, and CRAW which is the creation of Lazarus Lake who is the brain behind Barkley Marathons.  Virtual races were a nice motivator with the absence of in person races.  With my knee injury I spent allot of time walking and hiking.  An incredible increase in the number of family hikes was a silver lining and I'm grappling with how to include that with training for big races in 2021 and kids sports schedules resuming.
